Words have power.
I founded Power-Words to help organisations, teams and thought leaders dedicated to organisational and social culture change tap into the power of words via my copy and content writing, editing, proofreading, inbound marketing and content managing services – so that their audiences may notice, grasp and remember their message, and hearts get touched and minds transformed.
I, that’s Birgit Diggins, and below I’d like to tell you a bit more about how Power-Words was born.
Power-Words is more than my business.
It’s the culmination of a long-lasting journey to self-discovery! Via various detours and often bumpy rides.
Recognising my talents and passion as well as convictions I have about words has truly awakened my desire – and belief in my ability, perhaps even purpose – to help bring about positive change. (It has also resulted in a much smoother, more fulfilling ride!)
Crafting, structuring, simplifying and proofing content has always been a joy for me, however I never appreciated my love for copy and content excellence as anything special, or that I could have a viable career with it. Not to speak in English (my second language).
It was only once I started creating all marketing content for our small family business and it transformed the whole business from the inside out (business model, strategy, clients, reputation and self-image) that I came to recognise my superpower so to speak.
Similarly, although my keen interest in human psychology and behaviour was already evident at school and university (somewhat 30 years ago!), I never regarded it as something to nurture or even pursue professionally.
It was my personal experience of powerful breakthroughs and mind shifts following various personal development and leadership programs and coaching sessions that well and truly unleashed this passion. So much so that I have also created my own little changemaker cartoon by now.
While a clear and compelling purpose and vision plant the seeds for success, I believe that it’s the right (relevant, simple, consistent) words that bring ideas to life, to shine and to grow and that have the power to touch hearts, shift mindsets and transform behaviours.
More than that I believe that copy and content excellence does not only impact individual projects or activities, but it’s like an attitude – or life-force** as I like to put it – that shapes values, which over time build culture. A way of being rather than doing.
Becoming aware of my talents, passion and beliefs has given me the greatest sense of clarity about my professional legacy yet and I am more enthusiastic than ever to use and develop my word crafting and optimising skills.
More than that, my mission is to help changemakers tap into the power of quality copy and content and to use it as a vehicle to drive positive change for individuals, organisations and society as a whole.
